Does the Vasa Museum have a wheelchair to borrow?
At the Vasa Museum there are two wheelchairs that visitors can borrow. It is not possible book them in advance. Please contact the staff at the information desk upon your arrival.
Kulturnatten Stockholm 2025
On Saturday the 26th of April 2025 the Vasa Museum will be part of Kulturnatten Stockholm. Between 18:00 and 24:00 the Museum will have free admission. Please note that the museum is closed between 17:00–18:00 due to preparation for the evening.  For more informtaion in Swedish about Kulturnaten at the Vasa Msueum, please visit our website.  
When is Galärvarvsvägen closed for cars?
The inner part of Galarvarvsvägen is closed for vehicle traffic every day between 09:00–17:00, between 19th April to 21th September, 2025. This does not apply to vehicles with a permit. Please e-mail the Booking Office if you hav questions or call +46-(0)8-519 548 70 on weekdays (except Swedish Public Holiday) between 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–15:00.
Can we eat packed lunch in the museum?
The Vasa Museum cannot offer indoor space to eat packed lunches. If the weather is nice, there are plenty of places outside the museum building on Djurgården, where you can have a picnic. We recommend that you plan meals before or after the museum visit. You can also eat at the Vasa Museum's Restaurant. Access for visitors with poor vision
The Vasa Museum is quite dark due to the preservation of Vasa. However, it is possible to get close to the items shown in the exhibitions. It is allowed to use headlamp inside the museum, if you need better lighting to read the exhbition text. For the visually impaired there is also a model of Vasa, that you use your hands to feel how Vasa is built. If you are interested in this model, please contact the Information Desk upon arrival. Does the Vasa Museum have baby changing facilities and high chairs?
It is possible to find several baby changing facilities in several WC at the Vasa Museum and the Vasa Museum’s restaurant provide high chairs for visitors to borrow.
Accessibility at the Vasa Museum.
We want the Vasa Museum to be accessible to everyone and we are constantly working to improve our accessibility.  We have lift to all floors. There are accessible restrooms: * between the Ticketing Office and the Museum shop on entrance floor * by the information desk on the entrance floor * at floor 3 * in the restaurant. The museum is built on an old dry dock, and half of the entrance floor still has its original cobblestones. The surface can be challenging to walk on or manuevering a wheelchair. When is the best time to visit the Vasa Museum?
The best time to visit the Vasa Museum is in the afternoon on a weekday. During summer (1st of June – 31st of August), the best time to visit the Vasa Museum is at 08:30–10:00 in the morning, or between 16:00–18:00 in the afternoon. We know from experience that many visit the Vasa Museum in the morning and lunch time, as well as weekends. We recommend that you plan you visit Monday to Thursday afternoon, if possible. Most visitor visits the museum on Saturdays. Regrettably we cannot guarantee the exakt day and time when it is busy at the Vasa Museum, as it  is impossible to predict what applies for each day.
Getting to the Vasa Museum
The Vasa Museum adress is Galärvarvsvägen 14 on Djurgården in Stockholm. There are several ways to get to the museum. By bus, tram, ferry, byke or by foot. Check out our website for best way to get to the Vasa Museum.      
How much time do you need when visiting the Vasa Museum?
In general, visitors stay at the Vasa Museum for one and a half to two hours. The film about Vasa is about 20 minutes long, and if you want to join a guided tour, it takes about 30 minutes. It's always good to have some extra time to walk around and discover the exhibition on your own and maybe visit the Museum shop or restaurant.
Discount for people with disability?
The Vasa Museum has no discount for visitors with disabilities. Assistant or companions to visitors with disabilities have free admission. It is recommended to bring certification in case the Ticketing Office asks. This applies to both visitors with visible or invisible disabilities. Is there a way to skip the queue?
There are no tickets that give priority in any queue to the Vasa Museum. All visitors wait in the same queue, even if they have pre-purchased tickets. It is therefore recommended that you purchase your ticket upon arrival. Please be reassured that you will be able to enter the museum. It usually doesn't take longer than 20-30 minutes to get in to the Vasa Museum, even in the high season.
Luggage restrictions
Wheeled cases and large items of luggage are not allowed in the museum. It is permitted to bring handbags and smaller backpacks (lap top size), which you carry in your hand, on your back or your front during the entire visit. Please do not leave your bags unattended at any point during your visit. We recommend visitors to store luggage at the luggage storage at Stockholm Central Station.
Parking for bikes
There are bicycle racks alongside the rock wall opposite the entrance of the Vasa Museum, where you can park your bike. We recommend you to not leave any bags on the bike, and to use a proper lock for the bike.   
Is it possible to pay with cash?
The Vasa Museum is a cash free museum. This makes the museum a safer place for visitors and employees. In our entrance, shop and restaurant you can easily pay with debit/credit card. We accept American Express, VISA, Mastercard, Diners Club International and Maestro.
Car parking
The Vasa Museum does not have a parking lot. There is a parking lot near Junibacken, just to the right when you come over Djurgårdsbron. By the the Vasa Museum entrance there are two disabled parking lots for visitors with Disability Parking Permits. You need a valid Disabled Parking Permit to park on this lot.
