Thanks to a preserved letter, we know what kind of weather it was on this Sunday, 10th of August, 1628.
It was written by king Gustavus Adolphus' councilor, to tell the king about the accident.
The letter states that the ship set to sail between 15:00 and 16:00 in the afternoon, in calm weather with a wind from the southwest. Every now and then, there were some gusts of wind and it is one of these gusts that caused the ship to start heel, and then sink to the bottom. Whether it was sunny of not, is not stated in the letter.
